Flower power weathers drought
25 Mar 2003

Organisers of the 2003 International Flower and Garden Show say that despite the drought, stalls at the show have sold out faster than in previous years. The only concession to the drought is that there's a greater emphasis this year on display gardens designed for drought conditions, with many exhibitors showing off hardier plants.

Event manager Sue Flockart says that while many nursery businesses are hurting, landscaping companies are doing well.

The International Flower and Garden Show, the biggest in the southern hemisphere, pumped $7 million into the Victorian economy in 2002, with the contribution growing every year.

Herald Sun, 25/3/03, page 30.
