SA wind farm to go ahead 15 Aug 2003
A wind farm near Crystal Brook, in the Mid North of South Australia, has been given the go-ahead by Port Pirie Regional Council, with construction of the $90 million Clements Gap Wind Farm in the Barunga Range to begin within 12 months.
The farm will generate enough electricity to meet the needs of up to 30,000 SA households and abate 190,000 tonnes of greenhouse gases annually.
David Hastings, Pacific Hydro's wind energy projects general manager, said the scheme will also boost the economy of the region.
