Ekka as popular as ever
19 Aug 2003

About 600,000 people visited the Brisbane Exhibition this year and more than 25,000 competition entries also confirmed that Queenslanders still see the Ekka as the place to exhibit their talents.

RNA CEO Jonathan Tunny said official figures won't be available for several weeks but he estimated the crowd at about 600,000. The figure is up on last year but would have been even higher had it not rained last Saturday, he said.

Mr Tunny said the Ekka has continued to evolve and attracts thousands of new attendees every year. Innovations such as the four small stages where crowds gathered for "mini-shows" have added more variety. Planning is already under way for 2004.
