Gearing up for a field-day bonanza 16 Sep 2003
Machinery companies are expecting one of the best Yorke Peninsula Field Days ever following the recovery of farming regions after the drought. Field days president Trevor Bowden said an air of confidence in the farming community is expected to flow on to the event.
About 50,000 people are expected to attend the Yorke Peninsula Field Days at Paskeville on September 30 and October 1 and 2. More than 700 exhibitors from around Australia have been booked to attend.
Things are looking really good on the peninsula, Mr Bowden said. Areas that got water-logged earlier are starting to recover while other areas got a kick start. Farmers are expecting a good finish to the year with reasonable returns.
Mr Bowden said the large interest in the field days from farmers around South Australia augured well for the event this year. One of the anticipated attractions this year is a beaut ute competition with entries accepted up to the week of the field days.
