Farm Pride lays out its egg-expansion agenda 23 Sep 2003
Farm Pride Foods Ltd, which was intending to exit the egg business a few months ago, has forged new links with producers by buying stake in a large Victorian poultry farm. The company has also aligned itself with a substantial group of Victorian egg farmers and will team up with Novo Foods Ltd to market shell eggs to national retail customers and supermarket chains.
Novo is a national marketing joint venture company established in 1999; its members include the Western Australian Egg Marketing Board, NSW Egg Producers Co-op Ltd and Pure Foods Eggs Pty Ltd.
Farm Pride estimates that the combined turnover of the new Farm Pride Marketing Group will be $85 million, compared with the existing turnover of its retail egg business of $22 million.
