The burning state: 67 fires rage in NSW
26 Sep 2003

Fire fighters have been working to contain a large bushfire in the Jilliby Nature Reserve about 6 kilometres to the north-west of Ourimbah, on NSW's Central Coast. If the fire crosses containment lines it could threaten property in the town by Saturday September 27.

Fires have also erupted in Colo and Singleton, taking the number of bushfires burning in NSW to 67. New blazes at Bega and Eurobodalla have been contained.

High temperatures and north to north-west winds are expected to exacerbate some fires, but the Bureau of Meteorology has forecast a fresh southerly change for later in the day on September 26.

The police and the Rural Fire Service Commissioner have called on people to report suspected arsonists and people seen acting suspiciously around bushfires.

Sydney Morning Herald, 26/9/03.
