Bendigo banking on new telco
28 Oct 2003

Bendigo Bank says it will extend its successful Community Bank model into the telecommunications area and establish a company called Community Telco Australia. The aim will be to cut telecoms costs by up to 20 per cent for local businesses near its Community Banks. Bendigo Bank will act as the agent for Community Telco Australia and sign up customers.

Bendigo Bank chairman Richard Guy also told shareholders at the AGM that the bank is considering further alliances or acquisitions of smaller players in the financial services area. This would assist them to link into Bendigo's branch network, which now stands at 111 nationwide.

The Age, 28/10/03.
