Farmer joy as lambs up $16

If a farmer is smiling, chances are he's a lamb producer. Over the past week there have been price rises of up to $16 a head for some categories of lamb - and rates were already considered reasonable.
The price increase is attributed to a lack of supply, while the fall in the $AUD's value has also helped. As demand for sheepmeat increases, lamb prices benefit.
Meat and Livestock Australia thinks the good times are here for at least three months. MLA's chief market analyst Peter Weeks said the flush of young lambs could be late this Spring as production was delayed by the dry Autumn. MLA expects supply to be tight through Winter.
