Boys to show they're house-trained
19 Aug 2004

There's a new section at this month's two-day Wentworth Show: Bachelor of the Show. Along with guinea pigs and working dogs, Sunraysia's bachelors will put their skills to the test. Contestants will be required to iron a collared shirt, read a set piece of poetry aloud, and make a sandwich. Entrants must be 18 or over, male and nominated at the showgrounds by 11am on August 29.

Wentworth Show Society secretary Sue McKenzie said the shearing competitions are being held on Saturday and there's nothing to keep the shearers there on Sunday, so the bachelors' competition is being taken seriously.

The Wentworth Show will also feature cattle, sheep, poultry, produce, flowers, cookery, photography, wool, craft and needlework, and highland dancing.

Weekly Times, 18/8/04, page 28.
