Cattle prices in a frenzy
15 Sep 2004

Cattle prices are looking up, thanks to reasonable rain and a fall in the Australian dollar. Domestic processors paid a new Victorian record of 248 cents a kilogram for steer vealers at Pakenham on Monday. Exporters paid 192.2 cents for live beef cows at Wagga Wagga last week. The National Livestock Reporting Service's analyst, Peter Kostos, said the cattle market was in the midst of some incredible trading.
