Wheat returns lift by $8 per tonne
15 Sep 2004

Monopoly wheat exporter AWB Ltd this week lifted its estimates of the returns that farmers will get for their crops. For the new season 2004/05, AWB estimated pool returns for all grades would increase by between $6 to $8 per tonne, with the APW grade up $6 to $203 per tonne and the APH grade up $6 to $224 per tonne. Durum grades are up $8 per tonne. For the 2003/04 AWB National Pool, all estimated pool returns have been lifted by $4 per tonne, except durum grades which are unchanged.

AWB said it insulated the 2003/04 pool from a 20 per cent fall in US futures values since January, but it was now allowing participants to share in the market upside.
