Court asked to impose olive oil duty 28 Sep 2004
Olive growers are taking action in the Federal Court to try and force the federal government to impose an import duty on subsidised product for Europe. The Australian Customs has already rejected the proposal. President of the Australian Olive Association Paul Miller says EU subsidies are hurting the local industry. He estimates the subsidy is $50 million a year.
