Cotton planters look to yield recovery
8 Oct 2004

Two-thirds of this year's cotton crop in New South Wales will be planted with Bollgard II, a genetically modified insect resistant cotton developed by Monsanto. Growers say that insecticide spraying will be reduced to three in a season, from eight or nine. The sowing season kicked off in earnest in New South Wales. Drought cut cotton crop production last year by 65 per cent. David Lindsay from Namoi Cotton, said he expected a national crop of about 2.2 million bales.
