Grain harvest yields a promising start
18 Oct 2004

Farmers in the northern NSW grain belt are scrambling to their harvesters amid signs of a promising early harvest. Agronomists are tipping high yields in the Moree area, with an average yield of 3.5 to four tonnes a hectare. Wheat around Mungindi could yield up to five tonnes a hectare. The district’s canola crop this year is expected to exceed 24,000 hectares, up from 4,000 hectares last year.
