Processors squeeze orange price

Orange growers appear to have conceded to orange juice processors, and accepted prices below the farmers’ target of $300 a tonne. A Berri spokesman said growers were accepting contracts at prices in a range from $225 to $275 a tonne, depending on when the farmer delivered the fruit. Berri Ltd said that it had increased prices paid to suppliers by an average of 47.5 per cent over the past four years.
