Co-op's milk profits skimmed 20 Oct 2004
Tatura Milk reported a slight increase in profit in the year to June 2004 of $384,000 on sales of $249,000, or a margin of only 0.15 per cent. The co-op's chair Tom Perry said the board deliberately increased farm gate prices, cut capital expenditure and paid a special dividend, in order to support farmers during the drought. Tatura Milk increased supplies by eight per cent over the year, even though other local processors saw supplies fall two per cent.
