China may curtail milk imports

The Dairy Association of China is making plans to introduce a fresh milk identification system in major Chinese cities, a development that may mean Australian milk processors who export UHT and powdered milk products to China would face market limitations on market access. New Zealand-based dairy Fonterra is negotiating to buy a 39 per cent stake in Hebei Province-based dairy Sanlu.
