AWB pays extra for preferred varieties
25 Oct 2004

AWB said it would guarantee $5.00 extra per tonne to farmers next season willing to grow varieties chosen for bread or noodle making characteristics. The AWB said the premium price was an incentive to farmers to growing those varieties, which had a greater market value. That $5 a tonne premium will apply to farmers in South Australia and Victoria who grow Yitpi; in Queensland, Hume, Sunnco or Lang; and in different parts of New South Wales, Sunvale, Sunco or Lang. In Western Australia the AWB will pay the premium for Castle Rock or Bonnie Rock, and a $14 premium for Arrino or Cadoux.
