AWB exports now second best
3 Nov 2004

AWB said it recorded its second largest yearly wheat exports on record, exceeded only by the record crop of 1997. AWB said it exported 19.1 million tonnes in the year to September 30, just short of 19.5 million tonnes in 1997. AWB international general manager, Sarah Scales, said there were fewer than two million tonnes of wheat the system heading into the new season harvest. Almost half the wheat crop was shipped from Western Australia, where three of WA's four grain export ports also broke individual shipping records
