Plenty of jobs, but too few workers
17 Nov 2004

Dubbo's local paper, The Daily Liberal, reveals an embarrassment of job offers. Employment opportunities are not the problem in this inland centre. The problem is getting the bodies to fill them. Research by the Australian Industry Group found that businesses in regional Australia are struggling to fill jobs. With a population of about 40,000, Dubbo has an unemployment rate at around the national 5.3 per cent average, but a growth rate of only 1.1 per cent.
