Newcomers and part timers driving farm growth
19 Nov 2004

Hobby, lifestyle and part-time farmers may be the fastest growing segment of primary production. A survey at the Farming Small Areas Expo at Hawkesbury found the majority of respondents were either new to farming, or with only a few years of experience. Newcomers own blocks ranging from only a few hectares to up to 50 hectares, and derive their main income from outside the farm.
