Graincorp expects lower wheat crop
26 Nov 2004

GrainCorp lowered its forecast for this year's crop to 10.5 million tonnes, down on an earlier estimate of 11.5 million tonnes, due to hotter and drier than average weather in western NSW and Victoria in October. However, the small decline in the crop should not be as ruinous as last year’s poor crop. The rebound in the wheat crop from 2003 to 2004 helped revive the company’s profit. GrainCorp reported a $25 million profit in 2004, following a loss in 2003.
