Diesel price premium here to stay
2 Dec 2004

Farmers cannot expect diesel prices to fall, given strong demand and short supply. The Royal Automobile Club of Victoria estimate the wholesale price of diesel will hold at about 100 cents a litre, with a pump price of up to 115 cents a litre. The wholesale price of diesel is at a premium to unleaded petrol of more than five cents. The RACV blames demand for diesel in many Asian markets for the price differential. The RACV said the hike in diesel prices was something farmers should budget for, as diesel prices were unlikely to fall in the short term.
