AACo consolidates holdings on the Victoria River
9 Dec 2004

Australian Agricultural Co, Australia's biggest beef producer, said it would buy three stations in the Northern Territory stations for $80 million. The properties are the 886,500 hectare Victoria River district aggregation from the Tejas Land and Cattle Company and which includes 75,000 cattle. The purchase brings AACo's land holdings to 7.9 million hectares and its herd to more than 530,000 head. AACo said the Tejas portfolio represented a rare chance to secure first-class land in a safe rainfall area with growing capacity as well as breeding capacity. AACo said there was an opportunity to run more cattle with development of improved water reticulation.
