GM cotton dominates the new season crop

Around 80 per cent of the Australian cotton crop will comprise genetically modified forms this season. Monsanto Australia said a survey of cotton farmers found 80 per cent of farmers would use a GM cotton plant. Farmers expect to plant 300,000 hectares this season. Monsanto said the GM crop was more than double last year’s 115,000 hectares, in a crop afflicted by drought.
