Canker scare eases for some citrus growers 19 Jan 2005
A surveillance operation to detect citrus canker in the Gayndah/Mundubbera zone of Queensland has so far failed to find any suspicious samples. The Department of Primary Industry has surveyed 28 of the 43 properties and more than 80,000 trees in the region. Citrus growers in the Gayndah/Mundubbera zone may have unrestricted interstate market access by the end of February. Movement of citrus fruit was restricted in the last quarter of 2004 after the discovery of canker in orange groves in the Emerald district.
