Citrus board takes on biosecurity role 24 Jan 2005
The Citrus Board of South Australia will lose its marketing functions and may relocate to the Riverland as part of a major overhaul. The review, required by national competition policy, would propose three key functions for a new board. They include industry development in the form of information products and services, such as data on crop size and planting areas. The board’s food safety role would continue, while the board would take on a new role in biosecurity or quarantine, in an effort to manage potential pests or insect risks for industry. The board would still have some promotional activities.
