Wet season fails for central Queensland cane growers
4 Apr 2005

Cane growers in central Queensland have endured the lowest rainfall on record in February and March. In effect, the wet season failed for the fifth year in a row. The area from Carmila to Proserpine recorded a total effective rainfall for the four months to 380mm. But sugar cane required six times as much rain to ensure maximum growth.
