Feds promise grants to regional food processors
5 Apr 2005

The federal government will allocate $12 million in subsidies to small and medium-sized food processors in regional Australia. Under a four-year program dubbed Food Processing in Regional Australia smaller agribusiness operations may seek grants of up to $200,000 for projects that facilitate and encourage food processing; set up regional networks and establish market contacts that will help boost regional economies. Eligible businesses must employ fewer than 200 employees and have an annual turnover of less than $25 million.
