AWB wheat export monopoly confirmed

AWB will retain its monopoly over Australia's bulk wheat exports for a further five years after the federal government endorsed a review that concluded the monopoly boosted the earnings of wheat farmers. The decision means AWB International will continue to act as commercial manager of the wheat export single desk, as it has done since 1999. The government also endorsed recommendations of the Wheat Export Authority that would open niche marketing opportunities to other players.
