Murray River water storages dwindle
15 Apr 2005

Water storages along the Murray River stood at around 3,800 gigalitres at the end of February, about 1,800 gigalitres below the average. As a result, water allocations to irrigators were below average on both the New South Wales and Victorian sides of the river. In four of the past five years, water allocations have been less than half that allowed under notional licences, with this year’s allocation at 39 per cent.
