Inland rail corridor may win funding
18 Apr 2005

The federal government said it wants to facilitate construction of a freight rail link between Melbourne and Brisbane via Parkes, but has not said where funding for the $3 billion project would come from. One option would be for the new route to veer from the main line at Cootamundra in NSW and wind through Parkes, Dubbo, Werris Creek and Glen Innes before crossing the Queensland border.
