AWB makes final payment on 2004 wheat pool

AWB will make final payments this week to 20,000 wheat growers on their 2003/04 wheat crop. AWB estimate the average payment per wheat farm this season at $210,000. This week farmers will get their fifth and last payment of $391 million from that harvest pool, which will be boosted by a $20 a tonne higher than expected payment for the benchmark variety, Australian Premium White. Growers would be paid a base rate $15.40 a tonne in the fifth dividend this week, taking their final returns from sales of the variety to a base rate of $233.06 a tonne.
