Campaspe irrigators stressed by water caps
26 Apr 2005

Some irrigators in the Campaspe region in north central Victoria fear financial ruin if they cannot receive an additional allocation of water. Goulburn Valley Water restricted irrigators to 39 per cent of their allocation this season. The water authority had said it would increase that allocation by five percentage points, but then said it needed to reserve the water as insurance again another dry season next year. Northern Victoria Irrigators, a local farming lobby, said the Campaspe region normally had secure water supplies.
