AWS spurns Mariner offer for Woolmark
29 Apr 2005

Australian Wool Services has rejected a proposal from Sydney based private equity investor Mariner Financial to purchase the Woolmark Company’s entire assets. The proposed buyout was worth about $25 million. The proposal raised the possibility of purchasing all TWC assets from AWS and setting up brand new supply options for woolgrowers. Wool growers were to have been offered fixed pricing options for their wool clip, complete with market premiums similar to the New Zealand Merino and Smartwool deals signed recently.
