Milk supplies insufficient to meet demand
19 May 2005

Demand for milk is outstripping supply and there is no relief in sight for milk processors. Companies say they are hunting for milk as the drought reduces supply.

Tatura Milk said it was operating at 30 per cent below capacity and there was too little milk in Victoria to cater for the growing demand. Murray Goulburn cooperative said export demand for Australian milk had risen steadily while supply levels had dropped.
