Waste water dream revived by Darling Downs farmers
30 May 2005

A group of Darling Downs and Lockyer Valley farmers and Brisbane financiers are lobbying to revive an old plan to pipe waste water from Brisbane to Toowoomba. The South East Queensland Recycle Water Project, headed by NuWater, said the project would cost $600 million. They hope to raise two thirds of the funding from the Queensland and federal governments. Brisbane currently dumps about 135,000 megalitres of waste water into Moreton Bay.
