Bureau still expect a dry winter 31 May 2005
Warmer than average water in the Pacific Ocean makes it likely dry conditions will continue in most of Australia’s agricultural belt this year, even if there is no actual ‘El Nino’ event. The Bureau of Meteorology said the most likely scenario is average to below average rainfall for winter and spring. The south-west corner of Western Australia, south-east South Australia, southern Victoria (except East Gippsland) and northern Tasmania can expect the driest conditions.
