Farm subsidies minor by standards of Europe and North America
31 May 2005

By international standards, Australian farmers receive little government support. They received four per cent of their income from the government in 2003, according to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. The figure was closer to 18 per cent in the US, 37 per cent in the European Union and 74 per cent in Switzerland.
