More than one third of farmers expect conditions to worsen 31 May 2005
Farmers are more pessimistic about the rural economy than they have been in almost three years. The proportion of primary producers who expect conditions to worsen in the next 12 months has risen to 37 per cent, according to Rabobank's quarterly rural confidence survey. Rabobank said dry conditions around much of Australia have severely damaged prospects for the winter grain crop and have resulted in virtually no pasture growth.
