Rising grain price a worry for dairy farmers 7 Jun 2005
Most dairy farmers, unsurprisingly, are worried about profits and costs. The Dairy Australia Situation and Outlook found that 53 per cent of farmers regarded the price of milk price as the industry's biggest challenge, and input costs as the second biggest challenge. Costs had been in decline, with the unit costs of grain falling over the last 12 months. However, with the drought in eastern Australia reducing winter grain plantings, grain prices may rise again.
