Weekend rains encouraging 14 Jun 2005
The highest rainfall recorded in NSW over the weekend fell in the state's central, western and north-western areas, including the towns of Gunnedah, Gundagai, Narrabri and Tamworth. Victoria's north-east recorded falls of more than 100mm in some areas but the driest areas of the far-north Mallee and Mildura received only 10mm. The Grains Council said the rain would encourage more farmers to plant in the hope of follow-up rain.
