NFF finds Telstra failed to live up to promises in the bush 14 Jun 2005
A National Farmers Federation taskforce report shows that rural phone repairs have not appreciably improved in the past five years. As a result, the NFF is likely to oppose the sale by the federal government of its 50 per cent stake in Telstra. The NFF taskforce found key recommendations of the 2003 Estens inquiry into rural telecommunications services have not been properly implemented. NFF president Peter Corish said there was "not enough evidence" for the farmers' group to back the sale.
