Rain messes with ABARE’s pessimism 21 Jun 2005
Agribusiness analysts ProFarmer said the rain over the last two weeks was "the best break across the eastern seaboard this millennium". The falls appear to diminish the utility of the latest agricultural commodity forecasts published by the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics. ABARE said it expected that agriculture exports would drop by three per cent to $27.2 billion in 2005/06. ProFarmer said the rain had fallen in a slow, drenching fashion and would help germinate dry-sown crops.
