Cheese bring a smile to dairy producers
30 Jun 2005

In the nine months to March 2005, the value of dairy exports increased 14 per cent to $1.9 billion, according to Dairy Australia. Higher prices drove the rise, as the volume of dairy produce sold increased only 0.4 per cent to 627,400 tonnes. Cheese was a key driver, with the value of cheese exports rising 30 per cent to $666 million. Dairy Australia said cheese and whey powder exports had outweighed a fall in skim milk and whole milk powders, and butter.
