Collective bargaining blocked by ACCC
19 Oct 2005

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission issued a draft determination that would deny authorisation to Dairy WA to negotiate collectively on behalf of dairy farmers. Dairy WA applied to bargain on behalf of dairy farmers with milk processors, retailers and service providers on a range of terms and conditions including price. The ACCC said it was concerned that the Dairy WA proposal "sits at the extreme end of collective bargaining arrangements and would be a backward step from hard gains made since dairy deregulation began on July 1, 2000".
