Bird import ban lifted
27 Oct 2005

Australian quarantine authorities lifted a short-lived ban on bird imports. Instead, the Australian government will require all future imports of live birds and hatching eggs to be tested negative for both avian influenza antibodies and virus before shipment to Australia. Australia will continue to test for avian influenza antibodies and virus during post-arrival quarantine.
