Queensland wants control over water 21 Nov 2005
Eighteen councils from the Gold to Sunshine coasts and west to Ipswich may lose their control over water supply to a single state government entity in a Beattie government plan to cope with drought and water restrictions. Currently ten bodies control 19 water storage areas in the south-east corner of Queensland, with some dams full, but no pipelines to transfer supply to areas suffering shortages.
