Wesfarmers broke UN sanctions on phosphate import 2 Dec 2005
CSBP, a subsidiary of Wesfarmers, confirmed that it ordered a controversial shipment of phosphate fertiliser from a Moroccan company and sourced from the Western Sahara. The shipment arrived on the bulk carrier Furness Karumba three weeks ago. Trading in natural resources from Western Sahara is prohibited by the United Nations. Wesfarmers denied any knowledge of the law.
