Locusts invade Victoria
8 Dec 2005

Locusts have hatched at more than 470 sites across Victoria with swarms expected to cover up to 5000 hectares as the pests reach adulthood. The Victorian Department of Primary Industries, which will continue spraying until Friday this week has warned the locusts could move into populated areas and even Melbourne from next week. The opposition has criticized the government for being slow to react to the threat.
